As a Survey Technician your duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
Perform preliminary computation work to determine property lines, acreage, and other accociated computation work for survey reports Conduct cadastral and topographic surveying field assignments Maintenance and accountability of survey instruments and associated equipment Research work and crown or state land grants Check surveys for compliance with terms of purchase agreements Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement may be used to qualify. In order to qualify for this position at the GS-8 grade level, you must possess the following:
Specialized experience in technical work which provided the knowledge and skills needed for work in the type of surveying involved. Experience must have required the use of the pertinent instruments and techniques of surveying. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include, but are not limited to, work as an engineering technician, soil conservation technician, or construction inspector. Minimum
Qualifications:
In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement, in order to qualify for this position at the GS-8 grade level, you must possess the following:
You must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-7). Examples of specialized experience would include:
Conducting topographic and cadastral land survey work using a variety of surveying equipment; preforming a variety of survey computations using knowledge of mathematics; performing data entry and survey computations using software including Autodesk Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Starnet, Topcon Magnet office, ArcGIS or similar; operating and maintaining survey levels, total stations, and GNSS receivers; researching, writing, and interpreting legal property descriptions.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
