Fish and Wildlife Biologist (I & M Terrestrial Resources)

As a Fish & Wildlife Biologist (I & M Terrestrial Resources) your duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
Design, analyze and validate results of all wildlife and habitat related I&M activities for the Refuge Biological Program to achieve refuge, regional, national and ecosystem goals and objectives Coordinate implementation of terrestrial resources inventory and monitoring surveys, provide technical assistance and coordinate training opportunities for wildlife and habitat management experts and Refuge staff Coordinate planning activities and identify conservation priorities, habitat and wildlife population objectives, public use opportunities, land protection, and general operations of the NWRS Apply knowledge that has been gained from monitoring to terrestrial habitat management Provide support related to classifying natural terrestrial communities, landscape scale species modeling, remote sensing of vegetative communities, and terrestrial habitat mapping to develop refuge base map layers Coordinate and direct support to Refuges in the development of biological objectives, Habitat Management Plans, Inventory and Monitoring Plans, Forest Management Plans, Fire Management Plans, and Annual Work Plans Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement may be used to qualify. Basic Education Requirement:
In order to meet the Basic Education requirement you must meet one of the following:
A. I possess a Bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (You must submit a copy of your college transcripts to support educational claims) B. I possess a combination of education and experience which includes courses equivalent to a major (i.e. at least 24 semester hours), plus appropriate experience or additional education, that is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in the biological sciences, agriculture, or natural resources management or related disciplines appropriate to the position, which when combined, meet 100% of the requirement. Qualifications:
In addition to meeting the Basic Education requirement, in order to qualify for the GS-12 grade level, you must possess the following:
A. I possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service performing the following duties:
Develop, conduct, and evaluate ecosystem management studies; analyze ecological, botanical, and faunal issues and problems related to ecosystems; contribute to the development of or modification of existing standardized forest inventory and monitoring protocols; provide technical solutions to complex natural resource management issues; adapt, develop, or modify ecological techniques and procedures; devise new strategies, restoration or management plans; prepare technical or scientific reports of findings. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
