Intern will present environmental education and interpretive services for the Refuge's mobile visitor center known as the Watershed on Wheels. The WoW travels across the Connecticut River watershed delivering programs as elementary schools, summer camps, and outdoor-themed festivals. The WoW consists of 4 components: 1. An immersion trailer with models of typical habitats & wildilfe in the watershed. This is used as a basis for lessons about the importance of native habitats for wildlife; 2. A watershed table that is used to demonstrated river channel dynamics, erosion, ?ooding, and the effects we can have on rivers; 3. A set of pelts & model skulls for common mammals. This is used to explain different adaptations wildlife use to survive in the wild; and, 4. Seven interactive, rolling kiosks that are used at festivals & fairs. These kiosks include several games for children & information on the Connecticut River watershed, its wildlife, & steps residents can take to protect wildlife & their habitats.
